Carlotta Miller Johnson

American from Wisconsin, lived in Tanzania for ten years. Met my husband, a Newcastle doctor, there. Now live in Northumberland and have three grown offspring. Retired from counselling work and write about the three countries I have been privileged to live in.

While A Shaggy Dog Barks At The Moon

Moon appears distant
is often invisible

yet she pulls up the sea
even arranges the monthly bleed

only a split-off piece of Earth

never stays in the same place
is easily lost behind gauzy clouds

bright beams on the Coquet
La Luna, the Impossible

Plant, Prune, Prophesy

cheesecloth, silver fox, twice-sized
she undermines the security of day

Howl, Lament, Embrace
