Starring

When I have that dream,
asleep or awake,
of myself,
young and beautiful,
in some kind of Hollywood movie,
I know I should
shy away from
the poetic romanticising
of poverty,
yet still I find
my portrayal of itinerate factory hands
and old American cars,
attractive.
I have never worked in a factory
or seen the sun blaze down
on a dusty Cadillac,
except in films
which depict
a kind of hellish heaven,
earthy, scrumptious
dangerous and wild.
